VW is leading the way in the application of quantum computing in the automotive industry. In addition to using D-Wave's 2000Q to optimize factory production, the company has tested a wide range of applications, including the optimization of traffic flow via GPS, the development of neural networks and machine learning for self-driving cars, discovery of new materials for manufacturing, and catalyzing improvements in automotive design.
